“Varna Maritime” Ltd was established in July 2002 as a legal successor of “Chakarov” Ltd. The main business of the company is ship repair of vessels up to 40 000 DWT. 100% of the capital is privately held.
The company is founded in 1991 and during its first years it performed mainly emergency repairs of vessels on-site. Since 1996 the company is engaged with dock and class repairs of vessels up to 40 000 DWT and takes a substantial part of the ship repair market in Bulgaria. In situation of heavy competition the company has repaired more than 160 vessels owned by Bulgarian and foreign shipping companies.
During the years the company took its place amongst the most respected ones in the branch, offering top quality repairs under agreed time limits. It cares for over 120 employees and together with subcontractors more than 200 people work for the company.
“Varna Maritime” Ltd is one of the first Bulgarian ship repair companies, certified under the standard ISO 9001:2000. The company is working in close cooperation with most of the classification societies.
Since 2005 the company is a member of Metalock International Association which turns it into exclusive representative of M.I.A. on the territory of Bulgaria and entitles it to perform repairs using Metalock method.
The strategy of the management is focused on standardization and improvement of the ship repairing operations, increasing profitability by introducing new technologies, increasing efficiency by using technical facilities and work power, optimization of organizational structure, retraining of the staff.
